Multiple Teams · District Championships This Week – Golf, Tennis & Track


Golf has strong showing on day one at Districts.
Sophomore Yvonne Vinceri is the current leader in the clubhouse with a first day score of a one over par 73.  Yvonne holds a nine stroke lead and is looking to secure her second straight individual championship.  Day two will conclude at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks on May 10th.  The top five individual scores from this tournament will advance to the OSAA State Championships held at Eagle Crest – Ridge Course on May 13th and 14th.
The Boys Golf team currently sits in a battle for the final state playoff team spot in their Regional Qualifier.  The Mavericks team consisting of  Oliver Nielsen, Ethan Hill, Blake Sandahl, Jackson Hart, and Aidan Hurliman finished the first day in third place out of eleven teams.  The top three teams will advance to the OSAA State Championships held at Emerald Valley on May 13th and 14th.
Girls and boys tennis began their District Tournament on Monday, May 6th, being held at OES – SPARC Center. The girls first round play began Monday, where 4 singles and one doubles team advanced to quarterfinals being held Wednesday, 5/8. The boys first round begins Tuesday at 3:30 pm. Winners advance to Wednesday’s quarterfinals, which begins at 8 am. Semi-finals and finals begin on Thursday, 1 pm. Finals winners advance to the OSAA State Championships at Oregon State University on May 17-18th. Good luck Mavericks!
Girls & Boys Track & Field compete on Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th at their District Meet, held at Portland Christian HS. Events begin at 11 am. Look for seniors Zoe Zurasky and Taylor Bogaty to qualify for the OSAA State Championships again.  Championships are May 16-18, at Mt. Hood Community College.
