The Riverdale Golf Program had an excellent showing at this year’s district tournament and are sending several golfers to the state tournament. Sophomore Yvonne Vinceri won her second straight district championship at Quail Valley on Tuesday by shooting an opening round of 73, and following it up with a 77 on day two to win the Special District #1 4A/3A/2A/1A Girls Golf. Yvonne’s two day total of 150 won the tournament by an amazing 15 strokes. With the victory Yvonne received first team all-league honors and has qualified and will be playing in the OSAA State Golf Championship held on Monday, May 13th and Tuesday, May 14th at Eagle Crest – Ridge Course in Redmond, OR.
The Boys Golf Program consisting of Oliver Nielsen, Ethan Hill, Blake Sandahl, Jackson Hart, and Aidan Hurliman became the first boys golf team from Riverdale to qualify for the state tournament since 2000. The Riverdale Boys Program shot a two day team total of 724 posting a team score of 371 on day 1 and 353 on day 2. The two day total saw the Mavericks finish in second place of the Special District #1 3A/2A/1A District Tournament. The top three teams from the tournament qualify for state. Special recognition goes to Ethan Hill and Oliver Nielsen as they finished second team all-league with a two day total of 170 by Hill and 176 by Nielsen. The boys team will play at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, OR.
