Senior Zoe Zurasky capped off an amazing athletic career by winning the 3A state championship in the 200 meter dash. Zoe started the track meet with an impressive 5th place finish in the girls high jump yesterday, and just continued to add medals on Saturday. She began day two by placing 3rd in the triple jump with a mark of 32’4.75″. Next she bolted to an overall 2nd place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.94 seconds just .03 seconds behind the leader. Finally Zoe saved her best for last turning in a time of 26.26 to become the overall state champion in the 200 meter dash.
Senior Taylor Bogaty turned in her career best performance in the girls discus on Saturday. Bogaty picked the right time to throw her personal best 99’06” during the preliminaries of heat of the event. That throw was enough to move Taylor into the finals of the 3A girls discus event and was enough to secure 9th place in the event on Saturday. It was the perfect time to throw her career best throw. Congratulations Mavericks on a successful day two at the state championships! We are so very proud!
